
How to become a security officer?
Step 1. Apply for Security Officer (SO) License
You can apply for the Security Officer (SO) License by clicking the link below:https://licence1.business.gov.sg/web/frontier/home
Things required for the application process:
- If you are a Singaporean or Singaporean PR;
- Singpass
- Credit / Debit Card
- If you are a Malaysian:
- Required to a valid Singapore work permit and a letter of Good Conduct to apply for the license.
- Credit / Debit Card
Additional information:
- The approval for Security Officer (SO) License is done by the Police Licensing and Regulatory Department (PLRD) from the Singapore Police Force.
- Processing period ~ 2 weeks
- Application Fees : $16

Step 2. Complete the 3 Basic Licensing Units (BLUs)
- Threat Observation: Recognise Terrorist Threats (RTT)
- Guard and Patrol: Provide Guard and Patrol Services (PGPS)
- Incident Response: Handles Security and Incident Services (HSIS)

Step 3. Complete the 3 Basic Licensing Units (BLUs)
Upon completing the 3 Basic Licensing Units and after the security officer application has been approved, you can head over to USE Customer Service Centre to make the security ID card.
Additional information:
- The License is valid for 5 years
- Application fee: $22.50
